Fellow Anglers,
Normally, I would not allow non-fishing advertisers on fishbox.tv, however I think this company is well worth the time and effort to promote.
Finally, after years of being forced to use companies like Verizon or Bell Atlantic for local or business telephone service, a practical alternative is now available. Vonage Digital Voice, in Franklin Park, NJ is now offering home phone service via your cable modem.
This means that you can call your phone company, tell them to disconnect your phone line, and hook up the Vonage phone to your cable modem or DSL line. They charge either 26 bucks per month for unlimited local and in state calling, or 39.99 per month for unlimited local, in state and long distance. Both plans give you UNLIMITED CALLING. No minutes to count, or to buy. Thats it, one flat fee. Let's face it, you are already paying a monthly charge for your broadband line, might as well take advantage of it by doing away with your phone company.

The quality and speed are exactly the same. The phone does not interfere with your computer, nor does the computer interfere with your phone. You use the same phone you use now, only instead of the phone cord plugging into a phone jack, it plugs into the Vonage device hooked to your cable modem
I have always been dedicated to providing NJ fishing info to the many anglers, like yourself, that browse to fishbox.tv everyday. By clicking on the Vonage link, and considering their service, you not only have an opportunity to save substantial amounts of money with your local phone, but you also support an important sponsor of this site. I urge you all to take a minute or two, and check it out for yourself. If nothing else, you can learn about the service, and pass the link along to someone else who may be interested in the Vonage service.
As always, Thanks for your time and for choosing Fishbox.TV as your source of local fishing info.
Best Regards to all,
Greg Ruehle

Frequently Asked Questions
- "Do I need any special equipment?"
Yes, Vonage will send you a FREE convertor, which hooks up to your cable modem or DSL line. This gives you your new phone service.
- "Do I have to use my computer to use my phone?"
No, the vonage phone hooks up to any phone. It is especially effective with a cordless, when the base sits connected, and the handset is used anywhere in the house, just like before."
- "What about features like voice mail?"
The Vonage web site has a simple control panel for you to turn on/off your voice mail, use call waiting, use call forwarding... it even sends you an email when you get a new message. There is also the classic "stutter tone" when you pick up your phone to check for messages. The caller ID is also part of the service. There are no additional fees for any of these features.
- "Do I get an itemized bill?"
Better than that, you can track every call you make on the Vonage web site, it keeps an ongoing record of calls placed and received via your Vonage Phone."
- "I don't have phone service in my name, and I have a past due amount with the phone company, can I still get a Vonage phone?"
Vonage is NOT that phone company. You can put a credit card or check card behind the account, and your fee comes out directly on the same day each month. No bills to mail, stamps or envelopes.
- "Does this mean I can call any state and talk as long as I want?"
Yes, the premium plan is $39.99 per month and delivers UNLIMITED CALLING. For International calling, there is a very low per minute rate, depending upon the country/city.
- "What are some other benefits to having a Vonage Phone?"
There are many, first of all Vonage does not distinguish between a "residential" or a "business" line, so you get all the same features no matter what it's purpose is. Another great benefit is that you can take your phone number with you. The convertor is all you need. Just plug it in any broadband line, and thats it. For example, you can stay at a hotel that has broadband, hook up your Vonage convertor and actually make and receive calls as if you were at home. Even if that hotel was in Florida, you would still have your local area code.
In closing..
We as a consuming public have been kept in the dark about the power of the internet, and how it renders entire industries obsolete. We have paid outrageous amounts of money over the years, especially calling in-state. Worst of all we NEVER had a practical choice, it was the phone company or no phone. Now Vonage is revolutionizing the entire nation, and giving you unlimited calling, without charging you for every minute and second you talk. The phone company has been gouging us for decades, now it is time to do away with high phone bills, and use the internet the way it was intended. To allow you to inform, get informed and communicate with the world.
